Our History
Physicians Contracting Organization of Texas (PCOT) was founded in 1993 to establish a preferred resource
for high quality, cost effective health care in East Texas. Our mission statement is the guiding light
by which we measure our every movement.
“Physicians Contracting Organization of Texas exists to empower individual physicians
through a unified voice, restore the physician's role as a patient advocate, and to promote high
quality health care and cost effectiveness.”
As PCOT has had a proven record for success, the broad-based panel of quality physicians and highly qualified
specialists have led a trend in the ability to control the clinical and financial decision-making process in
medicine at multiple inpatient and outpatient facilities across East Texas. It is our intent to continue and
expand by:
- Acting as a regional-based physician-sponsored organization for managed care contracting.
- Proactively collecting and monitoring clinical and utilization data of services provided by its members.
- Utilizing information to develop treatment guidelines and protocols to optimize the value of medical care.
- Developing alliances with other physician organizations, hospitals, and managed care organizations as
appropriate for quality patient care and access.
